"Doğrusu biz Kur'ân'ı Kadir gecesinde indirmişizdir. Kadir gecesinin ne olduğunu sen bilir misin? Kadir gecesi bin aydan hayırlıdır. Melekler ve Cebrail o gecede Rablerinin izniyle her türlü iş için inerler. O gece, tanyerinin ağarmasına kadar bir esenliktir. " (Kadir sûresi, 97/ 1-5)
Bu sûrenin inişi hakkında değişik rivâyetler vardır. Bunlardan biri şöyledir:
Bir kere Rasûlüllah (s.a.s) Ashab-ı Kirâma İsrailoğullarından birinin, silahını kuşanarak Allah yolunda bin sene cihad ettiğini bildirmişti. Ashabın buna hayret etmeleri üzerine Cenabı Hak bu Kadir sûresini indirmiştir (Tecrîd-Sarîh Tercemesi, VI, 313).
Bu geceye Kadir gecesi denilmesi şeref ve kıymetinden dolayıdır. Çünkü:
a) Kur'ân-ı Kerim bu gecede inmeye başlamıştır.
b) Bu gecedeki ibadet, içerisinde Kadir gecesi bulunmayan bin ayda yapılan ibadetten daha faziletlidir.
c) Gelecek bir seneye kadar cereyan edecek olan her türlü hadiseler Allah Teâlâ'nın ezelî kaza ve takdiri ile ilgili meleklere bu gece bildirilir (Tecrîdi Sarih Tercemesi, VI, 312).
d) Bu gecede yeryüzüne Cebrail ve çok sayıda melek iner.
e) Bu gece tanyerinin ağarmasına kadar esenliktir, her türlü kötülükten uzaktır. Yeryüzüne inen melekler uğradıkları her mü'mine selam verirler.
Kadir gecesinin hangi gece olduğu kesin olarak bilinmemekle beraber genellikle Ramazan'ın yirmi yedinci gecesinde olduğu tercih edilmiştir. Hz. Peygamber (s.a.s) bunun kesinlikle hangi gece olduğunu belirtmemiş, ancak; "Siz Kadir gecesini Ramazan'ın son on günü içerisindeki tek rakamlı gecelerde arayınız" (Buhârî, Leyletü'l-Kadir, 3; Müslim, Sıyam, 216) buyurmuştur.
Zir b. Hubeyş diyor ki, Übey b. Ka'b'a sordum: Kardeşin Abdullah b. Mes'ud: "Yıl boyunca ibadet eden Kadir gecesine isabet eder" diyor, dedim.
Übey b. Ka'b dedi ki: "Allah İbn Mes'ud'a rahmet eylesin. O, insanların Kadir gecesine güvenmemelerini istemiştir. Yoksa Kadir gecesinin, Ramazanda, Ramazanın da son on günü içerisinde yirmi yedinci gecesinde olduğunu biliyordu" dedi.
"- Bunu neye dayanarak söylüyorsun, Ey Ebü'l-Münzir (Übey b. Ka'b'ın lakabı)" dedim. Übey;
"- Ben bunu Rasûlüllah (s.a.s)'in bize haber vermiş olduğu alametle söylüyorum ki, o da, "o gün güneş şuasız olarak doğar" dedi (Müslim, Sıyam, 220).
İslâm kaynaklarında belirtildiğine göre Allah Teâlâ bir takım hikmetlere dayanarak Kadir gecesini ve onun dışında daha bazı şeyleri de gizli tutmuştur. Bunlar:
Cuma günü içerisinde duanın kabul olacağı saat; beş vakit içerisinde Salât-ı vusta; ilâhî isimler içerisinde İsm-i Azam; bütün taatlar ve ibadetler içerisinde rızay-ı ilâhî; zaman içerisinde kıyamet ve hayat içerisinde ölümdür. Bunların gizli tutulmasından maksat mü'minlerin uyanık, dikkatli ve devamlı Allah'a ibadet ve taat içerisinde olmalar]. sağlamaktır. Mü'minler bu geceyi gaflet içerisinde geçirmemeli, ibadet ve taatle değerlendirmelidir. Ebû Hüreyre (r.a)'ın rivâyet etmiş olduğu hadis-i şerifte Peygamber Efendimiz (s.a.s) şöyle buyurmuştur:
"Kim Kadir gecesini, faziletine inanarak ve alacağı sevabı Allah'tan bekleyerek ibadet ve taatla geçirirse geçmiş günahları bağışlanır" (Buhârî, Kadir, 1).
Kadir gecesinde neler yapılabilir:
Kadir gecesini, namaz kılarak, Kur'ân-ı Kerim okuyarak, tevbe, istiğfâr ederek ve dua yaparak değerlendirmeli.
Üzerinde namaz borcu olanların nafile namazı kılmadan önce hiç değilse beş vakit kaza namazı kılmaları daha faziletlidir. Kazası yoksa nafile kılar.
Süfyan-ı Sevrî: "Kadir gecesi dua ve istiğfar etmek namazdan sevimlidir. Kur'ân okuyup sonra dua etmek daha güzeldir." (Tecrid-i Sarih Tercemesi, VI, 313) demiştir.
Hz. Aişe validemiz demiştir ki; Rasûlüllah (s.a.s)'e:
"- Ey Allah'ın Rasûlü! Kadir gecesine rastlarsam nasıl dua edeyim?" diye sordum. Rasûlüllah (s.a.s):
"- Allahümme inneke afüvvün tühıbbü'l-afve fa'fu annî: Allah'ım sen çok affedicisin, affi seversin, beni affet." diye dua et, buyurdu (Tecrîd-i Sarih Tercemesi, VI, 314).
Bu gecenin öyle bir anı vardır ki o anda yapılan ibadet ve dualar mutlaka makbul olur. Bu önemli anı yakalamak için gecenin bütününü tevbe ve istiğfar ile geçirmek gerekir. Bu da kişinin imanını tazeler. Gecenin bütününü ibadetle geçiremeyenler en azından teravihten sonra bir miktar oturup dua etmelidirler.
